Time For A New Roof?
Finding the right roofing contractor is easy when you know which questions to ask.
Top 8 Questions You Should Ask Your Roofer (Before You Give Him Any Money):
1. How much experience does the company have? T&G Roofing has over 30 years of experience and it shows in the quality of our workmanship. Everyone of our staff has is certified and has been with us for at least 5 years. You should be sure to find a company with a solid track record and experience that has stood the test of time.
2. Are you certified and insured? Make sure the company you work with has all the right licenses and insurance. If they tell you that your own insurance will cover their work, don’t use them. They should have insurance that will cover any mistakes or accidents they may cause.
3. Do you have references? A company’s past performance is often an indicator of its future performance. Ask for references, pictures of previous jobs, etc.
4. What is your warranty? Most reputable companies will warranty their work for at least 5 years. The warranties on the material are typically much longer than this – 10 years, 20 years, 40 years, or life depending on the roof type.
5. What are your clean up policies? Are you going to leave a mess in my yard every day? You want workers who are responsible and conscientious. Be sure that the company has a policy of cleaning up after the job and respecting your property.
6. Do you have a physical office? Although it may be tempting to contract with a worker who is “solo”, don’t do it. Work with a company with a staff and a team in place that can assist you if something goes wrong. You may save a little money upfront with the solo guy, but in the long run it will cost you much more.
7. How many jobs are you working on? Will you have time for mine? One problem of success is that it often means great roofing companies get more and more jobs and sometimes that can mean they are spread too thin and therefore do not do a good job on your roof.
8. What does your contract say? Be sure you understand the payment terms and are comfortable with them. Never work with a roofer who does not provide some sort of contract.
